Would you like to build meaningful relationships, make a difference, have fun, share your gifts and talents and brighten someone's day? We'd love to have you join us as a volunteer! Volunteers are required to complete orientation, in-person or by Zoom and our application, before joining us.
Here are just a few ways that individuals and groups can get involved in the ministries of Luther Home of Mercy:
- help transport individuals (push wheelchairs or walk with them) to events on our main campus
- volunteer for special events (Bingo, dances, games, fishing, sports, etc)
- share your talents... music, singing, crafts, office work
- become a pen pal
- collect/donate items from our wish list
- make holiday decorations
- Adopt-a-Resident for Christmas
- build accessible furniture (please contact us prior to selecting a project)
- landscaping/yard cleanup
- painting
Many people who work with or have a family member with an intellectual or developmental disability will tell you, there's something amazing about them. We often find that volunteers who work with the Luther Home community experience that same feeling. Through sharing a song, a dance or lending a listening ear, mutual relationships and long lasting friendships are built leaving a lifelong impact on the volunteer and the LHM community.
Volunteers must be a minimum of 8 years old. Adult supervision may be required depending on the event/activity.
With 17 group homes and 5 day habilitation sites in the Greater Toledo area along with our Williston campus, you are never too far to become involved in the life of Luther Home. Our most popular volunteer opportunities include seasonal cleanup projects, helping with parties and events and in-home Bible study groups. We welcome the opportunity to meet with each individual who is interested in becoming a LHM volunteer to help them find the best fit for their talents and desires.
